Karachites love shawarma and that’s a fact. Its creamy texture waters my mouth every time. Shawarma is an Arabic cuisine that has made its mark on our hearts and tummy. In Pakistan particularly Karachi it has its own serving style. Basically when meat is layered on a vertical shaft and turns into a gigantic mountain. This meat is then slowly grilled, dripping with juices, and spices, and then is Served on pita bread, with panini sauce, hummus, and veggies. This combination is just mesmerizing for someone like me who just loves all the good food. In Karachi, I have had this delicacy almost everywhere. A shawarma cart can easily be found in many bazaars and food streets but for me, the following stand out the most:
Al-ARAB

Adjacent to the continental bakery in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, there is a shawarma bliss called Al-Arab. It’s awesome, amazing, unique, and everything else that a shawarma lover is looking to find in a Karachi-based eatery. The menu may not be very diverse but it is quite tempting. Al-Arab serves the classic taste of Karachi, which is typically marinated chicken cooked in shawarma style, and served on pita bread with veggies and hummus. It is a must-try, and another reason to love Jauhar.

Hey Pita

Maybe the most famous place for shawarma is in Karachi right now. Hey Pita claims to serve the most authentic Arabic taste in town, and live up to expectations. Their flavors do justice to the Middle-eastern cuisine. However, Hey Pita also serves some not-so-authentic variations of the cuisine, as you may want to put those taste buds to the test for some new fusions. Other than Arabic wraps their churro is also much recommended to try to end the experience on a sweet note.
